The award recognises individuals who provide high quality end of life care and planning with residents and their family members.
The Judges recognised Colm dedication to his role and residents, particularly his innovation and his compassionate manner in dealing with sensitive End of Life Care Planning, having been announced the winner.
Colm prides himself on the passion he has for nursing in particular palliative care. He reads extensively, is connected to many healthcare forums and attends regular training to keep up to date with best practice. Starting out as a Healthcare Assistant at Aughnacloy House, Colm is now a Charge Nurse leading a team of 50 staff members and plays a pivotal part in the training programme within the home for Student Nurses.
Sarah Moore, a Nurse at Aughnacloy House commented, “Colm is an amazing team leader. He is always smiling and full of chat and knows all his staff and residents very well. He has been a great support to me personally and is an amazing nurse.”
Connie Mitchell, Home Manager commented on Colm’s recent success, “Colm is a compassionate, gifted nurse, who leads from the front to ensure his residents receive both safe, effective and compassionate care. He inspires his team and colleagues to strive for more. We couldn’t be more delighted for Colm winning this award which was duly deserved”
