The takeover has been approved by RQIA and means that the home has been saved from closure.
Speaking on behalf of MD Healthcare, Mr John Paul Watson said, ‘When we became aware that Abbey View was available for sale, MD Healthcare acted immediately to acquire the home from MMCG, who had announced their intention to close the home. Abbey View has had a long and successful history of serving the people of Bangor and MD Healthcare will ensure that success continues.’
‘MD Healthcare, part of the Domestic Care Group, is headquartered in Newtownards and whose Directors have a long association with Bangor. We own and operate six other care homes across Northern Ireland. We intend to refurbish Abbey View to our usual high standards and look forward to reopening to admissions in the near future.’
‘Most importantly we are delighted that Abbey View residents can now remain in their home receiving care from the dedicated staff they know so well. We look forward to meeting and working with all of our new residents, their families and our new colleagues.’
